Dr Darren Kong completed a Bachelor of Medical Science with Honours at the International Medical University in Malaysia in 2012, followed by a Doctor of Medicine and Surgery (MChD) at the Australian National University in 2014.
He undertook physician training in General Medicine at Canberra Hospital and North Canberra Hospital between 2020 and 2022, before commencing advanced training in Rheumatology across Canberra Hospital, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, and Concord Repatriation General Hospital. In December 2024, Dr Kong was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in both General Medicine and Rheumatology.
Dr Kong joined Rheumatology ACT in June 2025 and also works part-time as a General Medicine staff specialist at North Canberra Hospital.
Since 2021, he has also contributed to medical education as an Associate Clinical Skills tutor at the ANU Medical School. His clinical interests include crystal arthropathies, particularly gout.
